Archive boxes versus folder trees: what actually scales

Folder trees look organized until they are deep. A project folder inside a client folder inside a year folder works until a file belongs to two projects at once.

Archive boxes with tags solve a different problem: a file lives in one box but can be found through several tags. A quotation can sit in the supplier box and still surface under the project tag.

Rixin Archive is an Android app I built around this idea. Files go into archive boxes and carry editable metadata such as title, summary, and tags. Core archiving is local-first. The free version contains advertising; Pro is an optional monthly subscription priced by Play region.

Organization systems should make retrieval easy, not classification perfect.
